US Pledges 500 million covid-19 Vaccine doses for poor countries

The United States has promised to donate at least 500 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine.

President Joe Biden made the pledge while speaking to reporters after meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson ahead of the G7 Summit in Cornwall.

the pledge at the just-ended G7 Summit held in the United Kingdom.

He seized the opportunity to urge  world leaders to share COVID vaccines with the developing world.

According to him, United States would become the “arsenal of vaccines” to help poor countries.

“From the beginning of my presidency, we have been clear-eyed. We need to attack this virus globally as well,” the US president noted during his press conference which was televised.

“This is about our responsibility our humanitarian obligation to save as many lives as we can,” he said.

“In these times of need, the US needs to step up and help and lead,” according to him.
